So, what exactly is Bittersweet Beat?
Bittersweet Beat is an educational, entertaining, and empathetic newsletter for diabetics of all types, someone who knows and loves a diabetic, or anyone wanting to learn more about diabetes—the lows, highs, and in-betweens. Each issue aims to breakdown the latest news surrounding the disease in different areas: healthcare, medical research and tech, politics, mental health, and more.
Beyond the news, Bittersweet Beat is a collection of convos with a diabestie, tried-and-true recipes and tips, medical must-haves, and pop culture picks with a side of real representation. Basically, it’s a chronically ill group chat you actually wanna be in—informative without being overwhelming, honest without being too heavy, and always grounded in the reality that diabetes is, indeed, bittersweet.

Who’s behind the screen?
Chloe Trout is a writer and editor with a strong background in digital media and disability advocacy. She previously served as Associate Managing Editor of The Newsette, where she played a key role in shaping editorial content for the daily newsletter and oversaw features that informed and inspired a community of over 500k readers. Outside of editorial leadership, she’s continued to pursue freelance writing and administrative assistance, bringing thoughtful storytelling and meticulous publication and marketing standards to every project she takes on.
Based in the PNW with her partner Josh and dog Mac, Chloe still has a piece of her heart somewhere in SoCal (aka enjoys an annual trip to Disneyland and a cheeseburger from In-N-Out). When she’s not busy working, she’s either yapping with friends, reading a romance book, or screaming her lungs out at a concert.
